I painted this one on location in Idyllwild, CA right before the thunderstorms rolled in. The tree was so vibrant in the morning, full of bright yellows and greens, with the blue sky behind it. I started painting, began to hear thunder rolling across the mountains, and within an hour, I was packing up and running from the rain. I didn't want to touch this one in the studio when I got home, so I left it somewhat rough and loose...a reminder of my exciting moment in the mountain thunderstorm.
