Beauty

Dear friends,
My month of cleansing is moving along too quickly! I have been writing poetry and painting daily as part of my intention practice described in last week's blog. Well the poetry is a part of that, and the painting is for me. Along with my dietary cleanse and my social media cleanse, I have also restricted myself to using only palette knife in my paintings this month, and I am ever so inspired! I feel giddy every time I start a painting! I am preparing right now for Little Italy San Diego Artwalk, which is on April 28-29, and I am super excited to be showing my palette knife pieces for the first time.
Researching, meditating on and writing about beauty was a wonderful reminder for me, as an artist and a woman. When I think about cultivating myself more and more into beauty, it doesn't have much to do with the outer layers. It is about heart, spirit and authenticity. I have seen many a pretty girl who shone with ugliness, and many an old woman who radiated youth and loveliness. With all of my fear about aging, mortality and failure, it is good to remember the depth of true, lasting beauty.
Beauty
It is in the dark and the light,
the young and old.
An emergence of one's true nature
if only for a moment.
It is the growing, blossoming,
dying flower
who may or may not be seen.
Churning soil, breaking free,
expanding into the atmosphere,
falling into ash and seed,
smiling because she knows
that's where she came from.
It is the twinkle of kindness,
of love, of adventure.
A being owned and loved by her own soul.
A warm smile, embrace,
total acceptance.
It is speaking, singing, and hearing
beauty
with presence and purpose.
It is a sense of awe over
the beauty offered to us in every moment.
Within, without,
touching every sense,
moving our hearts open.
It is in the fire of passion felt
even in our dreams.
Calling us to come closer to ourselves.
la promesse de bonheur...
