Poetic Music by Rebecca Noelle

Hello friends! I have something a bit different to share with you today...something that surprised even me!

In January of 2018, shortly after my grandson was born, I set out to write 100 poems of healing and intention for the next year of our lives. I chose words that were important to me: Beauty, Love, Peace, Friendship, Joy, Dance, Music, Health, etc., and began to write one poem for each word. I ended up completing 44 poems and then I put the journal on a shelf and forgot about it. Flash forward to 2025, (interestingly, I'm 44 years old now), when my husband approached me with a program called Suno that he's been using to create music. He is a concert pianist and lifelong composer, but I had hardly ever seen him so lit up as he was when he found this program. He encouraged me to create a song, and in an effort to come up with ideas, I remembered those poems.

When I opened the pages, the poetry spoke to me once more and I began creating songs, one poem at a time. I chose the voices I craved: gentle, rich, feminine voices with crisp clarity so that the words could be easily understood. I wanted voices that felt personal to me, an extension of my own voice. I used my favorite instruments like cello, marimba, vibraphone, hand drums, chimes, and birdsong, and created genre blends of my favorite kinds of music from Irish jigs to jungle lounge. I worked until I got the right rhythms, tempos, and phrasing, accentuating the feeling of each word in each song. I chose my favorites and then edited and remastered the final songs. In the end, I merged a few of the poems that were similar in concept and ended up with 35 songs on two albums.

What a cathartic and beautiful experience it has been to hear my words come to life in this way! The music opens a gateway into the heart that the words can then sink into, and every time you listen to the album, there is more to hear, experience, and understand. These songs tell the story of my life, everything I have learned, everything I believe in. Yes, this was made with AI, but in collaboration with my ideas, intentions, musical passions, deepest thoughts. This program allowed me to create something that I would never have had the skill or resources to make on my own.

I see the insult "AI slop" going around without discrimination, referring to anything and everything created using AI. I admit that there is a lot of that out there right now, people and bots creating music, images, videos etc. mindlessly and with only volume and money in mind. But in my world, AI is also helping people with good ideas make their ideas even better. It is a collaboration, a conversation that is not much different than working with other artists.

These songs are something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. They are blessings, affirmations, intentions of peace, reminders to be present and gentleeverything I need to hear on a daily basis. They make me smile, dance, cry, reflect on my existence, and if you choose to listen, I hope you can feel how much love was put into every word.

Volume I has been released on Spotify and other popular music streaming services.

Volume II and lyrics to both albums are soon to be released, so keep an eye out!

Happy listening, and let me know which song is your favorite!

Rebecca
